The Dilruba is a string instrument from India, closely related to the Sarangi. It features a hollow wooden body and is played with a bow. Typically used in classical Indian music, it has a rich, resonant sound with a wide pitch range. The instrument is tuned in a way that allows for expressive sliding between notes, similar to the human voice. The Dilruba is often used to accompany vocal performances in both Hindustani and Carnatic traditions.
