SKA Vibes

Ska music is a lively genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s, combining elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. It is characterized by a walking bass line, accented guitar or piano rhythms on the offbeat, and a moderate to fast tempo. Ska was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae, and it gained international popularity, especially in the UK, during the 1960s and then again with the 1980s “2 Tone” ska revival. The genre often features brass instruments, providing a distinctive, upbeat sound that encourages dancing.
